Danny Ray Smith, 72, of Montezuma IN, and recently residing in Gautier, MS passed away Saturday October 5,2019.
He was born in Vermillion County, IN on February 10, 1947 to the late Herbert Ray Smith and Mary Magdalene Market Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Angela Kim Petereit Smith on April 29,2017 and his sister Janice Kay Smith Mullin on November 27,2016.
Danny Ray is survived by his daughter Trista Marie Smith of Ocean Springs, (Jere Shuster); his son Logan Shane Smith of Monroe, GA; (Amberly Clark); his three wonderful grandchildren Shon, Star, and Stone of Ocean Springs, MS; brother Michael Lee Smith and wife Katrina of Chattanooga, TN; nephew Michael Austin Smith of Chattanooga, TN; nephew Chad Raymond Smith of Mooresville, NC; and a plethora of other family members.
Danny Ray grew up in a very small town in Indiana and had a huge family as his mother was the oldest of twelve children. He served in the Air Force during Vietnam doing electronics.
Danny Ray excelled at every challenge, the consummate student and educator, he rose to great heights in Telecommunications (hardware and software sales) working diligently to earn the business for some of the tallest buildings in Miami, Tampa, Dallas, and Atlanta. Ironically, often competing against his cousin Steve Market who worked for Bell South.
Danny Ray was a stoic giant of a man, always willing to help in any way and share his wealth of knowledge, and philosophical thoughts.
He laughed often with a twinkle in his eye and his sly little smirk, and loved his family and friends with all his heart.
Cremation was chosen. Committal Service will be November 1, 2019 at 12:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.A celebration of life and visitation for Angela and Dan’s lives will be Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, 1:00-4:00pm at Gulf Hills Country Club in Ocean Springs.
