Jimmy Ray Price, 72, of Gautier, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 16, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born June 4, 1947 in Roanoke, Alabama and has been a resident of Gautier since 1980. Jim graduated from Smithville High school and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Mississippi State University. In 2013, he retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 32 years as a Designer Engineer/Computer Programmer in the Hull Department. He enjoyed coaching the Dixie Girls Softball in Gautier for many years and was respected and well known for his understanding of the rules and regulations of the league. Jim was member of Gulf Coast Daylily Society and enjoyed Hibernizing daylilies and gardening most of his life.
Mr. Price was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gautier where he sung in the choir, Sunday School teacher, Church Deacon, Watch Care team, and enjoyed many years of visiting new members and the community weekly. Mr. Price was recently recognized as Honorary member of Riverside Baptist Church in Pascagoula. He was a Gideon and current President of the Pascagoula chapter since 2001. He is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mae Price; two sisters, Mavis Johnson and Agnes Green.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Delores Price, Gautier; three daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Wilsey , Gautier; Rachel Freeman, Pascagoula; Angela “Angie” Robinson, Kennisaw, Georgia; one sister and one brother, Jane Yeackle, and Billie Price (Barbara); 7 grandchildren, Landen and Ayden Ray Wilsey, Ethan Freeman, Brent, Brandon, Ashley and Victoria Robinson; numerous nieces, cousins, Gideon brothers, two church families and loving friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 18, 2019 5:00-8:00pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will be Monday, August 19, 2019 6:00pm at First Baptist Church in Gautier with Rev. Tracy Martin and Rev. David Aultman officiating. Graveside will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00am at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Active pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School Class- Loose Cannons and honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist and Gideon members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon International, P.O. Box 2315, Pascagoula, MS 39569-2315.
