John E. Rednour, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, in Pascagoula at the age of 95.
John was born September 18, 1923, in Gastonia, NC to John Edgar and Nannie Brown Rednour. He met and married Marilynne Shaw in 1945 and together they raised 5 children. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve for more than 20 years. He retired as Production Manager of Mississippi Chemical after 27 years of service. John was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula from the time he joined in 1959 and for as long as his health allowed. He served in many capacities over the years including deacon, Sunday school teacher, Church bus driver, search committee member and Survival Kit teacher to new Christians. Long after his ability to attend he remained in communication with his maker. His Bible, worn from use with the faded image of where his hand held it over the years, stands as a legacy of his long time faithfulness to God.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilynne in 2003, his only son, John E. Rednour Jr., and siblings, Raymond “Jack” Rednour, Larry Rednour and Mary Alice Gibson.
He is survived by four daughters, Patricia (Philip) Cartrette of Hoover, AL, Deborah (Joseph) Famiglio of Mobile, AL, Brenda (Richard) Durant of Redlands, CA and Diane K. Rednour of Pascagoula, MS; brother, Herman Rednour of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Eunice McClellan of Florida, Corrie Faye Rednour of Dallas, NC and Ann Suit of Rural Retreat VA; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will conclude at Jackson County Memorial Park with military honors.
