Bruce L. Jones

Bruce Leon Jones, age 91, of Pascagoula passed away on Tuesday night, June 29, 2021 at his home. He was born February 20, 1930 in Pritchard, Alabama to George William Jones and Elizabeth Tipton Jones Manning.  He graduated from Miami Technical High School in Florida and attended University of Miami, Perkinston Junior College and Mississippi State. Mr. Jones was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War for 3 years. He was an Industrial Engineer for 37 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding and lived in Pascagoula since 1939. He was instrumental in starting the Pascagoula Girls Softball League. 

Mr. Jones was a deacon at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Pascagoula. He served as Sunday School Director, Training Union Director, and member of the Choir. He enjoyed sports, arts, antique cars, and traveling the USA after his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Francis, George, Reuben, John Carlton, and William Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Schroeder Jones, Pascagoula; two daughters, Stephanie Ann Jones, Pascagoula; Cynthia Diane Jones Edwards (Mitch) Edwards, Madison, AL; three granddaughters, Emily Edwards Murphy (Andrew), Margaret Edwards Lowe (Harrison), Katherine Edwards Day (Gabe); two great-grandchildren, Elias Mitchell Murphy and Graham Harrison Lowe, Jr; sister-in-law, Frances Schroeder; numerous nieces, nephews, and family members, church family and great friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 3, 2021, 9:30am- 11:00am, at Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with Rev. John Turner officiating. Committal Service will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula with military honors.
