Helen Yocom Ladnier

Helen Yocom Ladnier, age 90, of Gautier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020 at her home. She was born October 17, 1929 in Gautier and has been a life long resident.  Helen retired from Gautier Junior High after employment of over 35 years.  She loved to work in her garden and enjoyed taking care of her yard.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Orey Edward Ladnier; her parents, James Columbus Yocom and Sarah Frances Quave Yocom; son, Danny Edward Ladnier; four brothers, Floyd “Uncle Bo” Yocom, Chester Yocom, Pat Yocom, and Louis Yocom; two sisters, Carrie Ladnier and Maggie Givens.

Helen in survived by her devoted four daughters and one son, Gloria Dianne Young, Gautier; Amelia Evans, Gautier; Annette Weber, Evansville, IN; Nancy Brewer, Lucedale, MS; and Don Ladnier, Vancleave, MS; one brother, Francis Yocom, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren, Sarah, Amy, Keith, Crystal, Karen, Chris, Richard, Brandy, Shawn, Jamie, Dustin, Deanna, and Candace; 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, 10:00-11:00am, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier. Mask will be required to be worn and social distancing necessary.  

A private family service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with her grandson, Rev. Dustin Brewer and Rev. Eugene Eubanks officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Gautier. Pallbearers will be Keith Young, Dustin Brewer, Chris Ladnier, Richard Ladnier, Shawn Weber, Dakota Nelson, Greg Ladnier, and Tommy Yocom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of American or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  You may send condolences to her family or share a memory on the Tribute Wall of this website.
