Jean Ganier West passed away on October 12, 2021, at the age of 92. Mrs. West was born on July 6, 1929, in Mobile, Alabama. She was a loving, kind and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Mrs. West was a faithful member of Gautier First United Methodist Church and a founding member of the “Almost Famous” Pie Ladies. She worked at Merchant and Marine Bank as a bank teller until retirement in 1994.
Mrs. West is preceded in death by her parents, George W. Ganier and Louise Pol Blanchard, her son and daughter in law, John and Helen Furr and her daughter and son in law, Debbie and Calvin Brooks.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe West, and her children Susan Bowman (Gary Bowman), Cathie West Stokes, Michael G. Furr Sr, Julie Furr Clark, Connie West (Andrew Jenne) and Paula Brister (Bruce Brister). Mrs. West is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Pall Bearers will be Hunter Henley, Michael G. Furr, Jr., Dewayne Horton, Sam Brister, Marc Wharton, and Jordan Bowman. Funeral and burial arrangements will be held at the West Family Cemetery at 10 am on Friday, October 15, 2021.
