Joyce Ann Jones

Joyce Anne Jones (JOY) age 87 passed away peacefully with her family around her Sunday evening, January 26, 2020.

She was born in Boynton Beach, FL on November 19, 1932 to Joseph and Susie Vann.  She married very young at the age of 17 to William R. Jones. Their marriage has spanned almost 70 years and he survives her.

Joy loved people of all kinds, it didn’t matter if they were young or old, rich or poor, she gave of herself and lived up to her name by bringing joy wherever she went!  She loved to travel and often said Israel was her favorite place on earth.  She was a prayer warrior and loved God with all of her heart.  She showed our family how to live and serve God.  She took her five young kids to church faithfully and instilled in us a great love for the Lord.  She was intuitive and could see the humor in almost any of life’s situations, and of course she loved to laugh, dance and drink champagne!  However, her greatest joy and greatest achievement to her was her family.  She had 2 sisters, Ersie Carman and Sonja Vann who both have preceded her in death.

She is survived by her 5 children; Debra Starling, Donna Pope, Jeffery Jones, Julia Turner and Timothy Jones and her vast number of grandchildren-Tiffany Ritchason, Hillary White, Justin Pope, Joseph Pope, Oliver Pope, Alex Pope, Cara Kellogg, Jacob Jones, Hannah Jones, Cassie Lane, Ben Turner, Betsy Hollingsworth, Jolie Gilchrist, Olivia Ramsay, Scarlett Jones and Timothy Jones II, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter Emerson, as well as her nephew and niece.  All of these she touched with her love and joy of life.  So it is with great joy we celebrate her home going and know that we will see her soon in that better place!

Visitation will be Saturday at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula from 2-3 pm with funeral service to follow at 3 in the chapel. Interment will conclude at Machpelah Cemetery.
