Larry Wayne Ellzey

Larry Wayne Ellzey (August 1967-March 2024) age 56

Larry Wayne Ellzey passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2024. Wayne was born August 10,1967 to Larry and Rita Ellzey in Jackson, MS. He moved to Pascagoula in 1971 where he spent his childhood playing with friends that would grow into life long relationships. He was a 1985 Pascagoula High School graduate where he played baseball, then attended classes at MS Gulf Coast Community College. He attended the MS Police Academy and began his career with the Pascagoula Police Department in 1991 as a patrolman. Wayne thoroughly enjoyed being a police officer and protecting his community.  After serving more than 28 years with the police department he retired as a dispatcher.

Wayne enjoyed playing golf and singing karaoke with his friends of which he had many. He was a kind and loving soul who was raised on traditional values. You could always go to him for a laugh or advice, he would know how to put a smile on your face. He will be dearly missed.

Wayne is survived by his wife,  Stefanie Moseley Ellzey, her daughter, Macy Mignault Ladner and three grandchildren: Brooklee, Zoey and Brailey. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry L. Ellzey.
 

He is survived by his mother,  Rita F. Ellzey, his daughter,  Jessica Ellzey Jones (Jake) and granddaughter,  Nova L. Jones. Sisters, Christy Ellzey Smith (Scott) and Lori Ellzey Osborne (Brian). Niece,  Fairley E. Smith and nephews,  Oliver W. and Cooper P. Osborne. 

Visitation will be Sunday, March 17, 2024, 12:00-1:45, at O'Bryant- O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula. Funeral Services will be 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Guy Odom of Temple Baptist officiating. Pallbearers will be Kris Bean, Harold Underwood, Chris Blythe, Terry Scott, Chris Meadows, Dale Gordon, Scott Clayton, and Jeff Lay. Honorary Pallbearer, Ernest Moseley. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Reception to follow at the Pascagoula County Club until 6:30pm 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association. Family and friends are encouraged to pay their respects and share their memories to his tribute wall.
