Mary Hutchinson Obituary

Mary Eunice Hutchinson passed away at her home Saturday, September 12, 2020 surrounded by family.

Mary was born on February 19, 1927 in Arcadia, LA to Edgar and Lula Davis.  She attended Pascagoula High School 1941-1945. After WWII she met her war hero and on December 20, 1946 she married Francis “Shorty” E. Hutchinson a marriage that would last 70+ years before ending with his death. This union brought seven children. Her small statue was deceiving, her strength, tenacity, and grit stood head and shoulders above most people. She was a hard worker and loved being with and doing for her family.  In her early years Mary worked at Brumfield’s and the Ritz Theatre later she managed the Navy Cafeteria and for 18 years served as a School Crossing Guard for the Pascagoula Police Department.  In her spare time Mary made time to help others learn to read.  At Calvary Baptist GED Center and the Vancleave High School Library.  Mary was active in her church as well, teaching Sunday School for many years at Unity Baptist Church. Her children were established in the church and were taught the importance of salvation. Even in the end as her breaths became shallow, she reminded them she wanted to see them again and to help each other stay focused on the Lord and true salvation. This matriarch and mother, was a living testimony of the keeping power of Jesus Christ, she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Hutchison and son; Francis E. Hutchison Jr. She was the last of her siblings, preceding her in death were; Esmond, Fred, and Huey Davis.
