Mr. Philip A. Morison age 94 of Gautier, MS passed away Friday, May 22. 2020. Born June 25, 1925 in Sarasota, Florida, to the late Philip D. and Jean A. DeWitt Morison, he had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for over 40 years. Mr. Morison was an underwater demolition expert, during World War II, in the Navy. He and his fellow sailors were a precursor for todays Navy Seals. Following the war, he rose in rank to a chief warrant officer and retired after 30 years of active duty service. After leaving the Navy, he went to work for Ingalls Shipbuilding. He retired after 20 years. He married the love of his life Mary Lynne Landrum in 1953, they spent 62 blessed years together before she preceded him in death on September 23, 2015. Mr. Morison was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gautier. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 29, 2020 at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Ovette, MS with Bro. David Aultman officiating. Those who would like may sign the guest book online. Services are under the direction of O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Homes.
