Rev. Sam Jones

Rev. Sam Jones, age 77, of Moss Point passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Singing River Hospital, Pascagoula. He was born December 27, 1943 in Northport, AL and has been a resident of this area since 1982. He graduated from Northport High School and attended the Seminary at Baptist Bible Institute and William Carey College.   Sam devoted his life to the Ministry for 62 Years and we will never know the number of lives he touched but we know God is sharing that number with him today.  He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and compassion he naturally gave to others. Sam enjoyed bible study, gardening, reading and storytelling with others.

He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Jones; parents, Colin and Sarah Bell Jones; two nephews, Derrick Jones and Barry Jones.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Laura Jones; two daughters, Jenny Kilgore, (Buster); Susanne Kennedy (Cobby); five grandchildren, Samantha Rodgers (Josh), Jake Kilgore, McKenzie Kilgore, Mark Kennedy and Karlie Kennedy; two brothers, Jimmy Jones (Carol), and Donny Jones (Amanda), brother-in-law, John Fisher; two nieces, Donita Hindman and Kimberly Evans.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 29, 2021, 4:00-6:00pm, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6:00pm with Rev. Dennis Ray Smith, Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Scott Sullivan officiating.  The funeral Service will be livestreamed onto the funeral home’s Facebook page beginning at 6:00pm. Graveside Service will take place On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, 1:00pm, at Mt. Hebron Cemetery on Pinelake Road In Northport, AL in Tuscaloosa County,AL.   (Off of Hwy  171). 

Pallbearers will be Buster Kilgore, Cobby Kennedy, Jacob Kilgore, Mark Kennedy, Josh Rodgers, and Dustin Hindman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, Donny Jones, Sammy Anders, Mike Anders, Randy Anders, Ronnie Anders, Mark Anders, John Fisher, and Raymond Davis.
