It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved husband and father, Robert Michael Modica. Robert passed away at his home at the age of 74 on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Robert was born November 20, 1949 in Biloxi, MS (Keesler Air Force Base) to Edward and Margaret Modica. He graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1968 in Ft Walton Beach, FL. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and attended MGCCC. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 2015 after 40 years of service as a joiner. He met and married Susanne Milburn on June 27, 1981 a union that stood the test of time. Forty-Three years later she was still the one.
Growing up as an Air Force Brat and serving in the military he was content to enjoy the simple things in life like family and a cup of hot tea. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church and didn’t miss an 8:30 am Sunday mass. In his early years Robert enjoyed playing numerous sports but as he aged his number one hobby was golf. He also loved watching Jeopardy, and his grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Robert P. Modica; two brothers Michael Modica and Mark Modica. He is survived by his wife Susanne Modica ; two children Michael W. Modica (Amy Hataway) and Christine M. Modica; three grandchildren, Elias Roy, Hadley Hataway and Harper Modica; sister Missy (David) Hensley;brothers Edward (Joyce) Modica, Steven Modica, and Matthew Modica. In additional to several nieces and nephews.
Memorial mass in his honor will be at Our Lady of Victories Church in Pascagoula, MS on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may visit starting at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will be a private ceremony as he is placed by his son, Michael Modica, at a later date in the presence of Very Reverend Father Adam Urbaniak and family
