On Monday, June 5, 2023 a loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather breathed his final breath. Robert Dale Tyson Sr. has forever left an indelible mark in the lives of his family.

Robert was born third child of twelve children to Joseph and Sarah Tyson in Tuskegee, Alabama on January 4, 1943. He was a 1962 Tuskegee High School Graduate where he exceled in sports, being named Most Athletic. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked at A & P as a meat cutter.  In 1976, he and his young family moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he assisted in the opening of Piggly Wiggly where he was the meat market manager until he retired in 2009.

Throughout the years his love of sports never waned. He loved watching all sports and played on the Pascagoula Men’s Softball team and later as an umpire. His love of sports was contagious and became a family affair. Alabama Crimson Tide, Atlanta Braves and the list goes on, Robert was a true sports fan. Every future sport watched as a family will evoke joyous memories of happy times.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Dean Tyson (Sylvia), Curtis Gene Tyson “Pepper”, Roy Ted Tyson, Horace Michael Tyson, Thomas Ennis Tyson, Gary Ronald Tyson, Mickey Arnold Tyson and Baby Girl, Angel.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Linda Segrest Tyson of Pascagoula, MS; two children, Sabrina Kaye Gager (Buddy) of Moss Point, MS and Robert Dale Tyson Jr. (Melinda) of Gautier, MS; siblings, Sarah Lavinia Davis (Dave), William Donald Tyson and David Rex Tyson; sister in law, Peggy Tyson; grandchildren, Breanna Nicole Brown, Caitlyn Danielle Tyson, Maria Kaye Murray (Richard), Carly, Alexis Tyson (Vontae), Emily Ann Gager and Evan Lee Gager and Kyle Preston Gager; great-grandchildren, Kirra Bailey Brown, Lakyn Elizabeth Hiers, Georgia Alexis Hiers, Lainey Kaye Murray, Truhen Matthew and Paisley Varner; soon to be born, Ellis Tyson Hodges and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2023, 1:00-2:00pm. Funeral Procession will leave the funeral home at 2:00pm for Graveside Service to be held at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs at 2:30pm with Rev. John Turner officiating.
